For the first time, Black in Genetics, a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the work done by Black-identifying geneticists, announced a fellowship program for graduate and undergraduate students pursuing careers in genetics. CCMB MD/Ph.D. student Chibuikem Nwizu was named the winner of the graduate fellowship award on August 4. Chibuikem is a member of the Crawford Lab and his research focuses on cellular plasticity in cancer cells and stem cells to ultimately develop safer forms of therapy with fewer chances of relapse.
